David was born and raised in Los Alamitos. As well as being a coach he is also a reserve firefighter and EMT. He was a multi sport high school athlete who went on to play baseball and fast pitch softball for the Israeli national teams. At the same time David was an up and coming skateboarder and after a knee injury sidelined a career in skateboarding he began to take fitness seriously. David had been considering a career as a personal trainer, but he didn’t like the way globo-gyms preached fitness. It wasn’t until he found CrossFit that he realized his true fitness potential.

“I first learned about CrossFit while in the fire academy. Someone showed us kipping pull-ups and bar muscle-ups and I spent 2 days on that bar tearing my hands up until I did my first muscle up. I was hooked! I had been an athlete all my life, if it was a sport I did it. I was the kid who might not be the best at a sport, but I was good at everything. I think that’s what I love most about CrossFit. Its not about being the best, its about specializing in everything, being a master of nothing but a jack of all trades! There is no better feeling than helping others and I look forward to helping you reach your goals!”

CrossFit

Certifications:

CrossFit Level 1
USAW (USA Weightlifting) Sports
Performance Coach

Jake began his journey with CrossFit in 2011. He started going to CrossFit Ion Fountain Valley, which was his friends’ gym, and he’s been hooked ever since! Because he was a wrestler and motocross racer in high school, he was looking for a program that could match the intensity of these sports and CrossFit was definitely it.

Jake is a huge outdoor man and loves to hunt and fish and be outside in nature. He has a huge passion for Skeet Shooting and on any given Friday, you can find him at the range with his shotgun busting some clays out of the sky.

To keep his CrossFit physique in top shape, Jake eats clean and healthy, but doesn’t Paleo. He believes that every person needs a specialized diet to reach his/her goals, and Paleo is not for him. He trains five days a week, most of which consist of heavy Olympic weight lifting, and he rests two days.

“My favorite part about coaching is seeing individuals transforming themselves into happier and healthier people and knowing that I had a positive impact in their path to achieving fitness. My goal is to help our members reach their fitness goals in life – whether it’s for a sport or for their health. I just want to help provide the right tools and techniques to remain safe, have fun, and get fit!”

Yoga

Certifications:

200-Hour Power Yoga Teacher Certification
USAW-L1
CPT, PTA Global

Jessica has always played competitive sports and worked hard to stay in shape. She grew up doing gymnastics and all-star cheerleading. She was a competitive cheerleader in high school, and went on to cheer at CSULB and professionally post-college. After quitting cheerleading, Jessica looked for a sport that will keep her in shape and fulfill her competitive nature. After trying CrossFit for the first time she immediately fell in love. With her background in gymnastics and cheerleading, she was naturally drawn to the movements in CrossFit.

Since she was 16, she regularly practiced yoga to help remain flexible, strong, and injury-free. When she started Crossfit, she knew she needed it more than ever. In March 2014, she went through 200-hour yoga teacher training with the goal to spread yoga’s physical and mental benefits to athletes. She now teaches to Crossfit athletes and weightlifters around Southern California.

In August 2014, she started focussing her training solely on Olympic weightlifting because she liked the intricacies and skill required for the sport. She qualified for the 2014 American Open in the 48kg weight class and has her eyes set on competing at the national level.

Jessica’s training consists of Olympic weightlifting and yoga, 6 days per week. For her diet, she flexibly counts her macros and eats around her training sessions.

“I love when people roll up their mat after a class, smile at me and say, “I needed that.” Whether they worked through their soreness, stretched overused/tight muscles, learned a new challenging posture or became mentally stronger, I’m so grateful to share the physical and emotional benefits of yoga to other athletes. I love teaching people how to move their bodies properly through yoga. In Crossfit, most people are so focused on moving a barbell and hitting numbers or rushing through movements to complete a timed workout. Yoga helps train body control, breath, free movement, balance and flexibility. I’d like my students to take yogic philosophy and translate it to mental toughness in workouts, sportsmanship, personal expectations/goals, and every day life. I love challenging students physically and mentally, inspiring them to be the best athlete and person they can be and to be grateful for the amazing bodies we have.”

CrossFit

Certifications:

CrossFit Level 1
USAW Sports Performance Coach
CrossFit Competitor Trainer
CPR Certified

Laura found CrossFit in late 2010 when her then boss convinced her to try a workout with him at his box. At the time, she could barely run down the street, so she decided to give it a try. After one workout, she was hooked and his been an avid CrossFitter since.

As a result of seeing firsthand the transformation in herself, she received her Level 1 Certificate in 2012 and has since been committed to helping others transform their lives through health and nutrition. In 2013, she left her job as a spokesperson for the Orange County Transportation Authority to dedicate her time to the CrossFit community.

Laura is passionate about nutrition as she is about CrossFit and believes that through CrossFit and a clean diet, everyone can achieve health and wellness.

“The physical is only part of the positive changes people experience in CrossFit. As our athletes go outside their comfort zone on a daily basis in the gym, they are encouraged by their peers and coaches, and often times surprised by what their body is capable of doing. That positive experience translates into increased confidence, which transcends the gym walls. I experienced that myself when I began CrossFit, and being part of that change for others is the most satisfying part of coaching.”
